Recycled Memories
Fourth year -  Fairy Tale Competition
The consumerist culture demands a culture of short term life of an object where buying is preferred over fixing and caring. The museum of waste bridges the people back to the value that can be find inside the forgotten objects ; which are the memories and layers of history that are kept inside the landfill. They need to come up from a ramp that splits the two buildings and passes the big gabian wall in order to enter the museum as if they made a circle to go down. The memories are presented through going down in an elevator where the landfill is exposed deep in the ground and each floor represents each era with their type of trash. The exhibition spaces incorporate the objects that represent cultural memories and art that is made from the landfill. The education space connects the people to where the trash comes from and how it can be returned to the cycle of life. The gabian wall is a cut of landfill where it engages the people to see the blocks of trash and absorb the grand scale of the landfill.
